We always need Field Trip leaders and new places to rock hound.
So, if you are willing to lead or know of a location, please contact us though our contact page.
Thank you to all the members who have stepped up to lead past Field Trips for rock hounding. All your knowledge and hard work are greatly appreciated.
If you are interested in rock hounding, then our field trips are the place to be. Field trips are usually each month, starting in late Fall and running through early Spring. Most are on Sundays or Mondays and are one day in duration, although we do have some overnight trips. Nearby accommodations are usually available for non-campers. Provisions vary from site to site but normally include a rock hammer, bag, plenty of drinking water, and lunch. Field trips are always fun and usually yield some nice material to work with. Please see our EVENTS page for information on each specific field trip. and please contact us via our contact page if you have questions.
For those that don’t have their own rock hounding tools, for example a rock pick/hammer, we have a few available for sign out for the day at our Lapidary Shop. You can sign them out a few days before the field trip if need be but please remember to return them right after the field trip so that we can let other members have use of them!
As members of the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies, all club members agree to abide by the AFMS Code of Ethics.
